"Fatwood" is a traditional expression used to describe the high concentration of pitch (natural resin) in the wood. This resin allows the Fatwood to be started with a single match and to give a sustained flame.
Fatwood is approzimately 8" in length and starts fireplaces, barbecues, woodstoves, coal stoves, and capfires with ease.
